Indian Jewellery

Indian Jewellery

The beauty of traditional Indian Jewellery:

From chunky necklaces, bangles, cuffs, earrings, head pieces, tika's (traditional Indian head jewellery) and rings, traditional Indian jewellery offers some of the most beautiful pieces in the world.
Indian jewellery has always been an on going custom, to be treasured, passed on and to be gifted. Many people associated gold jewellery with India, but many do not realise that Indian Jewellery offers much more than just gold to its pieces. From unique designs, to stones, diamond cuts and a traditional use of the jewellery.

Jewellery is often known to be associated with women, but many decades ago during the times of Maharaja's (Kings) of India, many of the men were drenched in Royal design which used diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and pearls, to exhibit their importance and wealth. Even in todays modern India, men wear jewels during their religious wedding ceremony, this is to signify them as princes, on their special day.

Western designers such as Alexander McQueen and Chanel have often used Indian jewellery during their fashion shows and as part of their collection inspiration. Indian jewellery offers a unique ethnicity to it, a holds a huge variety, from style to colour and size of the delicate pieces.

Indian Jewellery currently has been challenging the tradition and focusing more on the modern day, costume jewellery, with new younger designers giving the younger generation, unique and playful jewellery. Such as my favoruite Indian contemporary designer such as Eina Ahluwalia and Nitya Arora, using traditional symbolic Indian objects and colours in a modern take, so effective.-

The newest couple to take on the Hollywood scene is bigger than ever, not just with their undercover love story but also with their synchronizing styles. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has always loved fashion, and is always photographed by the paparazzi looking flawless in head-to-toe designer glam, but since being in a relationship with hip-hop mastermind her style has been completely... remixed!

Hip-hop star Kanye West has always been known for his creative mind and appreciation for fashion, with his own label recently being reveled at Paris Fashion week... we can defiantly tell that Mr West has been transforming Miss K's wardrobe.

With the paparazzi fascinated by Hollywoods newest couple, there's never a time where we don't get to see what the two are wearing. After many weeks of their viewing as an item, the world witnessed a new vamp to Kim Kardashian's bright and flirtatious wardrobe.

Their style: working Black & White

Taking tips from Mr West, Kim changes the tones on her wardrobe, keeping to lighter shades, and white clearly showing as her favourite. While Kanye works his classic leather pants with casual black hoody and t-shirt. You can defiantly predict what 'Kimye' are going to rock at social parties, with their style playing out on a day to day basics.

Haider Ackermann

 Haider Ackermann

Brand Profile:

Haider Ackermann is a colombian born designer, from France that stormed Paris Fashion Week in 2001 with his first ever woman's collection, debuting his label.

After being inspired by the honorable Yves Saint Laurent, Haider Ackermann decided to head to Belgium to pursue his career in fashion designing. Interning with the likes of John Galliano and many other creative designers, 2001 was his year to broadcast his talent to the fashion industry. In 2005 Haider Ackermann joinned hands with Belgium bvba 32 group, to set up his very own studio in the chic capital of Paris, this began his journey of delivering unusual textures and drapes for the modern women.

Influenced by various cultures, Ackermann's garments consist of contrast and blends of a whole new dress code. From simple cuts to asymmetric, the use of different materials, like leather and their new movement of drape. Beautiful strong silhouettes, which are strong and refined, many of his creations have been worn by celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Janet Jackson and Penelope Cruz.

I love the Visual affect of the way in which Ackermann exploits the use of tough textures against lustrous draping, contrasting the strong leathers with the intense flow of drape and colour.

A mastermind of leather and avant-garde draping.-
